4. c̓əsnaʔəm: the city before the city

This week, the reconciliation committee organised a lab visit to the c̓əsnaʔəm exhibition at the Museum of Vancouver. We then discussed what we had learned and the impressions it left at lab meeting.

There was so much to learn here. In wanting to write this post, I realised I needed to download the First Nations Unicode font, which until now I had put off installing. The fact that these characters do not come as standard in word processing software is a clear reminder of the need to prioritise the acceptance and study of First Nations languages. It’s a small step to install this font, and as it turns out a pretty easy one, but one that feels significant somehow and I encourage everyone to try it.
