LABORATORY OF MOLECULAR AND BEHAVIOURAL NEUROSCIENCE: Our lab sits on territory stolen from the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) people. They have resided on this land for thousands of years and we honour their stewardship. As uninvited guests of diverse heritage, we are grateful for our place here.

Lesson 5: This learning is a privilege

xʷməθkʷəy̓əm culture belongs to them, and is for them. Many were persecuted for holding on to this culture and ensuring it survived. It is a privilege for those of us who are not xʷməθkʷəy̓əm to learn about it. We must treat this knowledge with respect.
